Our Technical teams are involved in projects from start to finish, providing the practical insight to ensure that each development can be completed on time and to cost. From the outset, we liaise with design teams and utilities companies, co-ordinate legal support and provide technical drawings for construction and sales teams. Most of the people here have an architectural background. But working for Barratt gives them an opportunity to move on from a purely design role into project management.
For us, the challenge moving forward is to keep abreast of new legislation and make sure that developments are rigorously planned out. In particular, the next few years will see the introduction of major changes in environmental law. These changes, allied to the fact that Barratt is involved in increasingly complex, non-standard developments, means that our expertise is critical. It also means that the work we do is always different, always thought-provoking and never formulaic.
