‘I was at Barratt Bristol for 10 years and was promoted to Regional Systems Manager in 2004 working for Group Office. It’s always been a fast-paced environment – House Building and IT generally are! We’ve been implementing new IT systems across the organisation since I started this job and this has meant huge changes for everyone.
‘In the past, different divisions at Barratt had different ways of working. Now, centralised systems such as Active Directory, Finance and HR with further systems such as Sales, Customer Care and Technical (along with others) mean that is a massive step forward and enables easier and faster communications and ability to consolidate at Group level. It will cut down on duplication and make information so much more accessible.
‘I’m focusing at present on various system modules that are either nearly at the roll out stage or being piloted. This means visiting offices, delivering training sessions and listening to feedback. An important part of the roll-out is to get people using the system, highlight any potential problems and ensure that Users fully understand their responsibilities and how the systems work.
‘I think the most satisfying aspect of my role is being able to help a variety of Users and solve their system issues.
‘An exciting part of the IT department is that it is growing fast, it’s challenging and rewarding and there are good career opportunities.’
