What’s a Barratt apprenticeship all about?

There are two key parts to our apprenticeship programme. Everyone who joins our scheme commits to a two-year programme. Our apprentices commence the programme in September each year.

Sitting alongside the apprenticeship programme, at the end of year two, for those who demonstrate high potential, there will be an opportunity to join our Barratt Apprentice Academy, where the chosen few will spend a further two years honing their skills and preparing to become a Site Manager.

1. The Barratt Apprentice Programme (Years 1 and 2)

The first two years are taken up with learning a trade and achieving NVQ Level 2 through day-release at college.

You will benefit from:

• NVQ Level 2 Syllabus
• A role specific induction
• Individual Barratt trade training designed to ensure maximum knowledge sharing during on site training
• Ongoing individual mentor support
• NVQ Level 3 Syllabus in year 3 (if you choose to stay on an extra year)

2. The Barratt Apprentice Academy (Years 3 &4)

At the end of year 2, there will be an opportunity to apply to enter the ‘Barratt Apprentice Academy.’ This is a further two-year programme that will qualify you at NVQ Level 3 and give you a bespoke ‘fast-track’ programme of development to becoming a Site Manager.

You will benefit from:

• NVQ Level 3 Syllabus
• Assistant Site Manager Rotations
• Training Plan, explaining the Site Manager’s role and development guidelines
• Leadership and Management Development Modules
• Project and Time Management Modules
• Communication
• Understanding personality types, interaction/influencing techniques
• Goal Setting and Rotations of Site with Site Managers
• Work with Construction Manager to ‘Run your own site’ at the end of Year 4.
• Volunteering Activities within the Community
